Jagalchi, Korea’s largest seafood market

 Jagalchi Market, Seafood lover’s dream place in Busan located on the seaside road in Busan's Jung-gu, is Korea's largest seafood market, selling both live and dried fish. This market represents Busan and is famous throughout the country. The market is famous for both local and international visitors especially those who love seafood products. Visitors can eat fresh raw fish right at the market. Choose what kind of seafood you want to eat, and the Ajumma or Ajussi will cut and slice it in preparation to either be cooked or eaten raw.

It was my first time trying Sannakji 'Live Octopus'! It felt strange before eating it. Turns out the taste is mild, fresh, slimy with a chewy texture. It was an interesting experience. Visit Busan and try it out!

Apart from that, one of my favorite dishes at Jagalchi is 고등어구이 (Grilled Mackerel), a simple and classic dish with salty, tender, savory flavors and trust me, it's SO yummy! Served with warm rice, seaweed soup, kimchi, and various Korean side dishes. For me it is a delicious meal that can be eaten at any time and never gets tired of!

How to go :

Jagalchi Station (line 1, exit 7). Pass the 1st street (on your left), turn left at the 2nd street (Gwangjang-ro) to get to BIFF Square. Walk 150m and turn right onto Gwangbo-ro to get to Gwangbokro Fashion Street. From Gwangbokro Fashion Street, exit 7 to exit 10 at Nampo-dong Station to go to Lotte Department Store (Gwangbok Branch) or exit 2 to Jagalchi Market. The market can be reached by walking straight from exit 2, passing the 1st street (on your left), then making a left onto the 2nd street (Jagakchi-ro 60beon-gil) and walking 50m straight.

 

Jagalchi Station (line 1, exit 10). Walk straight, passing the 1st street (on your right), turn right onto the 2nd street (Jagakchi-ro 47beon-gil) and walk straight 140m to reach the market. 5 mins walk.
